ORTONA- FOSSACESIA

 South of Pescara extends a sequence of beaches and Mediterranean scrub. Here there are the TRABOCCHI , unusual fishing machine made by wood. We will visit the Abbey of San Giovanni in Venere , a monastic complex in Cistercian Gthic style facing the sea. We will eat on the trabocco. In the afternoon the last stop will be in Ortona to visit the Cathedral of San Tommaso that keeps the holy relics of the saint.

SWEET SULMONA

 SULMONA-BADIA CELESTINIANA

 Sulmona, the most important center of the Peligna Valley, is famous for Ovidio, CelestinoV, its sweet confetti and red garlic. A beautiful city of ancient origins: the Peligni, the Roma Romans, the Swabians and the Angioinians have left traces in its urban structure. Starting from the Cathedral Basilica of San Panfilo, dating back to the eighth century, we will continue to the center of Sulmona to admire the complex of the Santissima Annunziata founded in 1320 and built on a Roman domus, the Domus di Arianna of the first century. a.C..In Piazza Garibaldi, one of the most beautiful and large squares in Italy, we will discover the medieval aqueduct. In the afternoon visit to the Abbey of Santo Spirito del Morrone. Founded by Pietro da Morrone, then Pope Celestino V, in 1256 you will be amazed by its monumentality and grandeur.

In the heart of Abruzzo, not surprisingly called the green heart of
Europe, there are the Gorges of Sagittario. a tour that will touch
the three main centers immersed in a unique natural environment,
thanks to the Sagittario river and its lakes. The first stop in
Anversa: famous for its “literary parks”, here D'Annunzio set the
tragedy "La fiaccola sotto il moggio"; we will visit the Church of
San Marcello of the eleventh century, the remains of the Norman
castle and the Church of Santa Maria delle Grazie dating back to
the sixteenth century. We will continue to Villalago, built in the
eleventh century; here we will visit the center with the old mill, its museums and the hermitage of San Domenico placed
on the homonymous lake. In the afternoon we will reach Scanno, famous for the goldsmith's art, the typical costume
of Scanno's women and the "catenaccio", immortalized by the famous photographer Cartier Bresson. We will visit the
Church of the Madonna del Lago. In the village we will cross the "ciambella", which is the classic route to visit Scanno,
the Church of Santa Maria della Valle, the Church of San Giovanni and the Wool Museum. Then you can taste the
typical sweets of Scanno.

DISCOVERING THE  ROMANESQUE ABRUZZESE

 The Romanesque architecture in Abruzzo covers a period of time that goes from the ninth to the thirteenth century, there are many places of worship on the Majella and not only. Ancient abbeys and monumental churches tell us about Romanesque art in their most beautiful and unique expressions . SAN CLEMENTE A CASURIA was the first abbey of Abruzzo in 872 built by Ludovico II, SAN LIBERATORE A MAJELLA was founded according to legend by Charlemagne, SAN PIETRO AD ORATORIUM was rebuilt in 1100 and already existed in 753 and finally SANTA MARIA D'ARABONA of 1208.

LADIES AND KNIGHTS: THE CASTLES OF
ABRUZZO
Visit PACENTRO - PETTORANO SUL GIZIO
  Abruzzo rich in history also includes several 
fortifications that stand out perfectly in our
landscape. Starting from the Peligna Valley we
will visit Pacentro, a village which for 70% of
its territory is part of the Majella National Park;
the Caldora castle with its 24m high towers.
overlooks the labyrinth of small and narrow
medieval streets. We will see the church of
Santa Maria della Misericordia from 1603, the
church of San Marcello and the small church
dedicated to Santa Maria di Loreto. Pacentro is
famous for its spectacular “gypsy race”,
legends about dragons, hidden treasures and
witches. In the afternoon we will move to
Pettorano sul Gizio, included among the most
beautiful villages in Italy; perched on a hill it
offers tourists a spectacular and unique view of
the nature reserve. The visit will also include a stop at the old mills of the town, today evidence of
industrial archeology.

CAPESTRANO – ROCCA CALASCIO In the Tirino valley the ancient village of Capestrano, where the statue of the Capestrano Warrior was found nearby, preserves the Piccolomini castle which was also owned by the Medici.  We will then visit the Church of San Pietro ad Oratorium with its magic square. After a lunch of trout, crayfish and saffron we will move to the Rocca di Calascio, the highest fortress of the Apennines that offers the visitor a breathtaking view especially at sunset.

NATURAL RESERVES

THE LADY OF THE WATERS: POPOLI

 A day in Popoli, an ancient city full of waters, which gave birth to Corradino D'ascanio, the inventor of the Vespa and the helicopter, and for centuries, thanks to its strategic position, was one of the most important Abruzzo. The guided tour will start from the historic center. Piazza della Libertà, the Church of San Francesco in the late Gothic style of Abruzzo, Palazzo Paolini with its wrought iron balconies from the end of the eighteenth century, the Taverna Ducale the most famous and ancient building in the city, commissioned by the Cantelmo in the first half of the 1300s. We will climb to the Church of the Holy Trinity with its spectacular flight of steps and we will see the Church of San Lorenzo. We will proceed in Via G.Bruno to admire ancient gates and the particular Chiesa dell'Addolorata. Before lunch we will visit a famous winery to taste local wines and after a lunch with crayfish, in the afternoon we will visit the Reserve of Capo Pescara: established in 1986, 135 hectares wide. The waters come from the Campo Imperatore plateau and with a 30-day journey they arrive in Popoli. We will end the day by attending a falconry lesson, a unique and exciting experience.

THE ANCIENT VILLAGES OF THE GRAN SASSO NATIONAL PARK AND MONTI DELLA LAGA

 SANTO STEFANO DI SESSANIO

Located in the heart of park, the Castel del Monte it looks like a fortified village, built on an ancient pre-Roman settlement developed in the early Middle Ages: in the center of the village there are churches with Baroque furnishings. Ancient village of transhumance it hosts two museums dedicated to it and it is also known for its excellent dairy products. The Campo Imperatore plateau with its beautiful beech forests offers a magnificent experience in nature, with its spectacular rocky massif of the Gran Sasso. In addition, these places have hosted several sets for film productions. Some examples? "The name of the rose" and the films of Bud Spencer with his "spaghetti western". Located in the mountains Santo Stefano di Sessanio is a beautiful and characteristic village with stone houses and charming alleys of the 1400s and churches of the 1600s; its famous cylindrical tower, unfortunately collapsed due to the earthquake of 2009, today is represented by a stylized metallic structure. You will find craft shops, we will see to dye wool with wine and eat the famous Santo Stefano di Sessanio lentils!

PERFUME OF SAFFRON 
NAVELLI - BOMINACO

Every year thousands of purple flowers donate a precious red gold to Navelli: saffron! This beautiful village was built on a place that was inhabited as early as the sixth century BC. from Vestini and it was one of the castles that founded L'Aquila in the XIII century. We will visit the Parish Church of the Rosary, the Church of the Campo and the Baronial Palace of Santucci. After a lunch of saffron, chickpeas and other local products of Piana di Navelli, an area that was crossed by the tratturo L'Aquila -Foggia, we will stop at Bominaco, a hamlet of Caporciano. In Bominaco there is the Church of Santa Maria Assunta of the eleventh century, rich in furnishings of considerable workmanship, the Oratory of San Pellegrino and in the highest part the castle. The Oratory of San Pellegrino will enchant visitors: the frescoes of three different masters represent one of the most beautiful pictorial cycles in Abruzzo.

The ancient Teate, once the capital of the
Marrucini people, is one of the oldest and
most beautiful cities in Abruzzo. Rich in
Roman remains, it offers the visitor art and
history of every century. The route will wind
up from the Cathedral of San Giustino, we
will visit the Marrucino, one of the oldest
theaters of Abruzzo, and we will continue
along the main street full of palaces and
churches. from the Roman temples to Villa
Frigerj which houses the National Museum

The tour will continue with the visit of one of the most beautiful villages of the Majella National Park. Caramanico Terme, famous for its waters, its historic center and its sweets.
