The Good Friday Procession was born thanks to the Jesuits and was initially curated by the Compagnia dei Nobili, later it was entrusted to the Archconfraternity of the SS. Trinity. The first Good Friday curated by the Trinitarians dates back to 13 April 1827.The Brothers wear a red habit with a white subject. Finally he returned to the Chiesa della SS.trinità at 24:00.Along the route of the historic center the Trinitarian procession touches thirteen churches: S. Pietro, S. Gaetano, the Cathedral of S. Panfilo, the Annunziata, S. Domenico, S. Caterina, S. Rocco, S. Filippo Neri, S.Chiara, S.Maria della Tomba, S.Lucia, S.Maria del Carmelo and S.Francesco della Scarpa.A special feature of the procession is the "struscio", a cadenced step that is performed by all the members of the procession, accompanied by a choir of over a hundred elements.

That of Sulmona is really one of the most beautiful and exciting processions in Abruzzo.
"La Madonna che scappa" represents the meeting of Mary with her resurrected son. A
ritual rich in symbolic religious values and not: the race of the bearers of the statue of the
Madonna dressed in mourning, the black veil that disappears, the symbolic colors that
will appear, the doves from which auspices are drawn. For those who have never
witnessed, they will be able to see and feel the pathos of the audience. A celebration that
celebrates the risen Christ and symbolically also the new life that follows.
